About Bill Spenla
Bill Spenla is an award-winning global HR leader with broad experience in all HR competencies and deep expertise in performance management, leadership development, and coaching. Bill has diagnosed, designed, and facilitated leading-edge organizational development interventions to boost productivity, and developed integrated talent management practices strategically focused on customer satisfaction and human performance. Bill serves as mentor and coach to a number of senior leaders and HR professionals, and has built a reputation for providing timely and effective straight-talk feedback to colleagues at all levels of the organization.
Bill joined the DuPont Company in Houston as an industrial relations specialist. Following various production and marketing management assignments, he was assigned to Wilmington, Delaware, as a HR business strategic partner serving the marketing/sales and R&D divisions. Following his promotion to Vice President, HR at Solae, a DuPont subsidiary in St. Louis, MO, Bill was appointed Corporate Manager, Leadership Learning & Development, and worked with the CEO to develop, deliver, and manage the General Manager Development Forum, a top-tier leadership development program for senior executives. After that, he held the global HR role for key DuPont businesses including Corporate Marketing & Sales, DuPont Nonwovens, DuPont Safety Resources, DuPont Protection Technologies, and DuPont Titanium Technologies.
After joining Axalta Coating Systems (formerly DuPont Performance Coatings) as Global Director, Talent Management & Leadership Development, Bill designed, developed, and implemented the transformation of the company's performance management system, and the leadership development program for the global senior leadership team.
Bill is a recipient of DuPont’s AG Crystal Award, the Corporate Human Resources Humana Award, and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award for Valuing People. He is a SHRM-certified Senior Professional, Human Resources, an associate of the OD Network and the Human Resources Planning Society, and a member of the Association for Talent Development.
A graduate of Marist College with a B.A. in economics, Bill received a M.A. in political economy (with a minor in labor relations) from the State University of New York at Albany, Graduate School of Public Affairs (now the University at Albany School of Business).
